Schoolies Week is a celebration of crossing the finish line of high school and being released into the world.

Australians have been celebrating Schoolies Week since the 1980’s! Yes, around the time your parents graduated high school!

However schoolies celebrations have now been almost a compulsory Rite of Passage, and so much effort is now put into the schoolies events (by groups such as “Sure Thing Schoolies Travel” to make schoolies week the most memorable week of your life…. If you’re expecting the best week of your life… You won’t be disappointed 🙂

Schoolies aged 16 to 18 who are completing year 12 on the year of travel may attend. If you have left school early (eg Year 10) for work or TAFE and you are in this age group then you may also attend. The Schoolies accommodation and activities are accessible to all Schoolies 18+ as well as under 18.

Phillip Island Accommodation Map

The most common way to get from Melbourne to Phillip Island is to drive (90 minutes) and there is parking available at the accommodation, however public transport is also available.

From Melbourne by car:

Take the Monash Freeway (M1) to the Cranbourne exit, where you will turn into the South Gippsland Highway (M420). Follow this route to the Bass Highway (A420), through Grantville and Bass, then onto the Phillip Island Road (B420) to San Remo, over the bridge onto Phillip Island.

Public Transport Options:

V/Line coach to & from Melbourne stops at Grantville, Corinella, Bass, San Remo, Newhaven daily – Phone 1800 800 007 or see Public Transport Victoria

Schoolies can get access into the bars and clubs if they are 18. Otherwise, there is a great Schoolies vibe at the Schoolies accommodation that can be enjoyed every evening for all Schoolies regardless of age. Staying at the Schoolies accommodation is a huge advantage for those who are under 18 as it gives you a venue to enjoy and celebrate your Schoolies week.

Measures are in place to make it as safe as possible for Schoolies. Sure Thing Schoolies has a 100% Safety record in all 14 years that it has been running Schoolies events. Phillip Island is considered to be one of the safest Schoolies destinations. There is also staff on site at the Schoolies accommodation at all times. Many Schoolies have been to Phillip Island for schoolies week, and each year the number of schoolies is growing as word gets around about how good it is.

Yes. We understand that you want Freedom at Schoolies. You have the freedom to explore the beautiful Phillip Island, however, the location of the Schoolies accommodation is the centre of the Schoolies action. You can go shopping, do tours and activities as you wish. There is a free bus that may be available at times (driven by the Red Frogs) for transport between the Schoolies accommodation and Cowes if required.

Absolutely. This is a must to ensure you that have no problems at check-in. It will also ensure you are at a “Verified” schoolies hotel – these hotels must meet guidelines of safety, prime location, good rooms, schoolies-friendly staff, and it also ensures that you don’t miss out on the genuine schoolies experience. The Island Accommodation is a verified Schoolies hotel and the official accommodation for Sure Thing Schoolies at Phillip Island.

On Phillip Island, the place to be for Schoolies is Newhaven (this is the location of the Schoolies accommodation and the Schoolies party. It is also a huge benefit to be amongst other schoolies – the last thing you want is to be at a hotel with young kids taking up the pool, or at a private house with elderly neighbours asking you to keep the noise down after 8pm. No, there is no schoolies Curfew. Sure Thing Schoolies runs safe and professional schoolies events and NEVER enforces a curfew or lock-out, and NEVER leashes you to the hotel grounds.

There is no other way to get access to the Schoolies party.

Enjoy the amazing food available at Phillip Island. The food includes all the normal stuff you would expect such as Pizza, Chicken, Steak, Pasta, Fish and Chips, Wedges, Seafood, Burgers, Fresh Fruit. There are also cafes, restaurants and a supermarket close by. There is a full kitchen at the Schoolies accommodation if you feel like preparing your own food.

Yes. There are so many food outlets available that you are very likely to find multiple options for your dietary requirements.

All bedding is provided, including linen, sheets, blankets, pillows. As for towels, bring your own towels. If you would like to hire a bathroom towel at the hotel, it can be done for $3 per towel

There is full kitchen including a fridge and cooking facilities that is available for Schoolies to use. This is a nice, new and large kitchen and is shared by the Schoolies staying on site.
